Some argue that the idea to drop the bomb on Hiroshima was a brilliant decision. They say that it was a breakthrough in scientific history, and brought the war to a much quicker end. It has been said that the bombing saved countless American and Japanese lives, because of the quick and easy end to the war, rather than launching countless land attacks. Some people argue that the Japanese deserved what they got, for attacking America at Pearl Harbor.
Others see the bomb as a horrific and unethical event. Yes, the bomb had been a tremendous break trough in scientific history, but at what cost? The Americans who unknowingly worked on constructing the bomb fell sick with illnesses, and the area in which the bomb was worked on caused pollution, which lead to sickness of other innocent American citizens in the area. The bombing had brought the war to an end much quicker that they had thought to have accomplished without it, but it took more than enough lives of Japanese lives between the immediate deaths and the deathly illness brought on in later generations through radiation that had spread. The number of American's who died at the bombing of Pearl Harbor is only a minor fraction of the lives taken with the atomic bomb. In conclusion, the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 was not as much of a good idea as an unfair massacre of Japanese lives.
